Featured Alumnus: Scott Rogers, Mayor of Charles Town, West Virginia

Scott Rogers was elected Mayor of the City of Charles Town, West Virginia in May of 2017. As Mayor, Scott supervises the day-to-day operations, long-term planning of the city, and exerts leadership in city affairs. Upon graduation from the University of Florida with a master’s degree in Political Science and a certificate in Public Affairs, he was hired as the executive director of a 501c4 non-profit organization working on federal budget issues. Since 2016, he has been the President of Charles Town Now, a main street organization working to revitalize downtown Charles Town as a center for business, community, and the Arts.   Scott is committed to public service and has served on numerous community boards. “The University of Florida’s Public Affairs program gave me the tools I needed to embark on a successful career in public service.”
